The day started innocently enough, Jen was 6 days past due and eagerly hoping this day would be the day. She was having contractions early this morning but were fairly irregular as they were every day this past week. We were planning to go to Lilyanna's 2nd birthday party but Jen felt a little too uncomfortable to leave. Being the forever unselfish mommy, she insisted dad and grammy take Macyn so she could play and enjoy the sweet treats... see pic above.
As we left the party Jen called me and said the contractions were getting closer and we should get home. By the time we got there they were at 3 minutes and we hightailed it to the hospital. Once in triage she could barely walk and the triage nurse said she was 9cm dilated and almost ready to go. They got us into a room at 1:10pm and told us it was too late for an epidural, Jen was not too happy at that point but could not waste effort on worrying about it. Here she is between contractions. Our doc got here at 1:25 and told us he was glad he lived around the corner. He broke her water and Renny was here at 1:49. He weighed 8lb 13oz, and was 20.5 inches, head full of hair.
He had a good cry from the start and Mommy was so relieved to be done.
Everyone told us he was a big baby, but he feels so little compared to a 19 month old. He is very content and looks just like his big sister.
Renny has been feeding well from the start and enjoys sleeping with mommy between feedings. Already had 2 poops and got all his shots.
Macyn was a little scared at the hospital when she saw some nurses, she probably thought she was going to the doctor's office. She was a little confused when she saw Mommy with a new baby.
Grammy tried to put her down with them, but she was not having it. We gave her a sibling present, a new baby doll of her own, and she quickly warmed up to things. Before you know it she couldn't get enough of loving on her little brother.
