Macyn's First Boat Ride

Ah, living by the water definitely has its perks and it was only a matter of time before we took our first boat ride down on the water to one of the islands off of the coast. Macyn had a blast feeling the rush of the wind and the splashing water on her face as the boat coasted through the wake. Every now and then I would hear a little giggle and look down at her face full of wonderment and joy.
She also loved looking back at the captain of the boat, Ray a PA that works with Dax. She would laugh every time he would look through the glass and give her a wave hello!
Our little water baby was born to lap in the waves and frolic on the beach!

Macyn Walking

Macyn is starting to walk really well. We used to have to stabilize her on something solid and then call her over to us and she would only take one or two steps but now she initiates the walking and takes multiple steps. It is so exciting to see her walking around!

Here is a video of her walking. Toward the end, she grabs the camera which is the cause of the shaky recording. Enjoy!

Mmmmm....beans!

Little Miss Independent trying to feed herself some mashed up beans! She got most of it on her face and in her hair and then soon realized that they felt ewey gooey when she squished them in her hands. Good thing she didn't have any clothes on or else she might've been hard to clean up!!

So much hair...

Macyn's hair is really starting to get out of control! It is getting so gosh darn long, and we are getting a bit tired of the one ponytail on the top of her head so I thought that I would try out a new style! The tri-ponytail. Here she is modeling the new 'do!

Reading time!

While our friends were visiting, Macyn was having a ball hanging out with people her size! It was hilarious watching their interactions with eachother. Gwen, who is the oldest was the total mommy figure, giving Macyn toys when she was upset and helping us hand her a sippie cup when she thought she might be thirsty. Whitney, who is about 1/2 a year older than Macyn was definitely like an older sister. She would play with Macyn but every now and then, she wanted to hang out with the big girl (Gwen). Macyn was the typical younger sibling, always chasing after the older girls and wanting to be involved with everything they did!
It so reminded me of hanging out with my sisters, Miji and Susie! Oh the good ole days!!

I know, I know, I'm such a slacker!

Ok, so I know that I haven't exactly been present on the blog but a lot of things have been going on and I just haven't found the time! But now for a little catch up while Dax is taking Macyn for a walk around the loop!
We are starting in a new city and are very excited for the move. Macyn was a champ and actually took to the new house pretty well! Dax had a whole 3 weeks off before he had to work and we filled that time with exploring a new city and having our first visitors, the Koplans and the Castros. We all had a blast and Macyn loved meeting her new best friends Gwen and Whitney!

My happy little baby playing in her play pen, which is just a corner of the living room that's blocked off for all of her toys!

Here she is trying to climb out. You can't really see it very well but she's trying to use the baby gate on the left and her play house on the right to lift herself out of there!

Macyn at the BEACH!

We went to Charleston this past weekend for a friend's wedding and while we were there we were able to spend some time at Folly Beach which was such a blast! Macyn loved the sand even though I was trying my hardest not to let her get too messy/sandy. I knew she would've eventually and I have the pictures to prove it! She quickly learned that she liked the taste of sand and she kept on eating it! Just the thought of it is making me cringe all over again!! But even though part of me can't stand seeing Macyn all messy and sandy, I can't wait to see her on the beach again this summer! She is already a beach bum!

Macyn Feeding Herself!

I was feeding Macyn some plums when she pulled her head back and grabbed the piece of plum I had on my finger and put it in her mouth. After that, she wouldn't let me feed her anymore, she had to to it all herself. I would put a piece on my finger and she would grab it and bring it to her mouth. I quickly grabbed the camera and this is what followed:
Here she is working on her pincer grab taking the plum off of my finger. She was
concentrating so hard but she was also muttering something the whole time. I think she was talking to herself and telling herself "You can do it!" She dropped this piece of plum on her leg.

She was able to pick it up with a pretty good pincer!

Here she is staring at the piece of fruit! Look at her little tongue sticking out!

Ahhh, the sweet taste of success!

Although she is getting a lot better at bringing food to her mouth, here were a few casualties that fell on the floor! Not too bad!!
I can't believe how far she has come from her milky rice cereal! I am so proud of her, she is such a good eater, she eats pretty much anything we put in front of her! She has to keep up the chub somehow I guess!

Wow Macyn, You Finished Your Veggies...Or NOT!

This is what I found after dinner when I unbuckled her high chair.Looks like she's starting early on hiding her veggies! I'm going to have to keep a close eye on her!

Macyn's First Ponytail

Macyn's hair is getting so long I am able to put it in a ponytail! I can't believe that she has so much hair! I can't wait for it to grow longer!

By this time, after all of the pictures, she was ready for the ponytail to be taken out and to go to bed!!

My Little Strawberry Shortcake!

Here are the most recent pictures of my sweet little Macyn in her cute strawberry outfit. Sorry to everyone that was looking for updates on the blog, I promise to be more diligent with posting. I know everyone LOVES seeing our little girl grow up and she is doing it so rapidly, the blog is a GREAT reminder to keep taking pictures and to keep documenting all of the memories and milestones.
Enjoy!!!

Magazines...A Subscription to FUN!

Macyn LOVES magazines! She loves to crinkle, tear up, and eat the paper. Whenever daddy leaves one of his Men's Health or mommy leaves one of her parenting magazines laying around within reach, Macyn will get to it and DESTROY! It's pretty entertaining, unless it's one of the magazines that we haven't gotten around to reading yet!!

My First Sewing Project!

My friend Christy was kind enough to give me and another friend, Jenni, a free sewing lesson one night. She showed us how to make a pillowcase dress. I chose the most difficult fabric, seersucker but being a novice sewing, how was I to know that when trying to hem, the seersucker thread would sometimes get pulled INTO the machine?? I was still able to work with it, I just had to be very careful and Christy had to do one of the hems because I kept messing it up! But the dress turned out beautifully and Macyn looked adorable!!
Jenni, who had a sewing machine but never used it, was kind enough to let me borrow her machine and I have been on a sewing kick ever since then! I made ruffled bloomers to match Macyn's pillowcase dress (ok, I made ruffles and sewed them onto a pair of bloomers that came with another outfit) and a hooded towel for her because her baby towels are getting way too small. Now I have a TON of projects in my head of what I want to make, there just isn't enough time at night to do it (I wait until we put Macyn to bed before breaking out the sewing machine).
Now, I am obsessed with trying the new projects so much so that sometimes I am up so late, I have to stop myself and go to bed. It is so addicting mainly because once I start something, I feel as though I HAVE to finish it!
Here is the picture of the Macyn in the dress! Isn't she the perfect model?!
Here are the ruffled bloomers:

Here's a better picture from the back. She looks so cute! I can't wait to make her even more clothes!!!

Uh Mom, a little help here...

Along with standing up in her crib, Macyn is also falling down in her crib. I have NO idea how she did this, I woke up to her screaming and when I walked it, her little arm was stuck. She must have been sitting and fell forward catching her arm. Of course I HAD to take a picture before letting her loose, she just looked too cute. When I walked in, she just started grinning because she knew help had arrived but then I left to get the camera and I think she was a little worried I was going to leave her like this! haha

Yummy crib!

Here are some more shots of Macyn in the morning, gnawing on her crib railing! At night when I read her her books, she loves to stand up in her crib and look at the pictures which is great. I used to have to lean into the crib and read to her which was a pain in the...back! She discovered a game to play as well if the book isn't entertaining her. She'll stand in her crib, let go with one hand, and then let go of the other hand and fall on her tushie! I was trying my hardest not to laugh when she first did it because I didn't want to encourage it but she just kept on doing it. Instead of coasting, she would just reach out her hand to where she wanted to go, whether it was an inch or a foot away and then just fall, sometimes face first. It's scary but I know she has to learn and I can't always be there to protect her. She's getting better at it though! She will be walking in NO time!!!!

Breakfast with Daddy

I know that it's been a while since I've posted something new and I am going to just go posting crazy to catch up! So many new developments have happened. Macyn has really started becoming more and more mobile. First she was crawling and now she's pulling up on all of the furniture and getting ready to cruise! She loves standing up in her crib and biting on the rail so I had to get a bite guard but she loves biting on that now!
She has been waking up earlier and earlier and was actually up to see daddy off to work which was a first! I am desperately missing the days of her waking up at 8! Oh, I had no idea how good I had it!
Here she is hanging out with daddy while he ate some breakfast before heading out to work!

The Adventures of a Cheerio!

Recently, we've given Macyn some Cheerios to play with/eat while sitting in her high chair. She mostly pushes them around on the tray. She doesn't quite have the ability to use the pincer grab with her thumb and index finger so she has to think of more creative ways to get them into her mouth. Occasionally she'll grab a hold of one in her fist and lift it to her mouth. Sometimes the Cheerio will fall back onto the tray or onto her lap but sometimes she manages to get it inside her mouth. Another method she uses is pushing it around the tray until she manages to flip it on top of one of her fingers. Then she'll slowly bring her finger to her mouth and push the cheerio in with her left thumb. Very cute! She is so creative!!
This morning I was feeding her oatmeal and peaches and she was playing with a few cheerios and she managed to get one in her mouth but after sticking her two fingers in after it, she managed to flip the cheerio onto her face. Luckily, before I picked it off, I had enough time to grab the camera and take a picture! Enjoy!!!

Macyn at the Pool

Poolside...Gotta Love the South!

Today was a pretty nice day to hang out by the pool! The weather was just right, not too hot and not too cold and there was plenty of shade for Macyn to roll around on the towel set out for her on the ground. The towel was pretty large but she kept testing the boundaries by going to the far edges every time! She was loving sitting on the side and kicking her little feet in the water. We bought her a little floatie that she can sit in under a nice canopy and she loves to float around and kick her little chubby legs in the pool! She is SO ready for the beach!!!

Where's Macy?

Macyn has learned the rules of peek-a-boo and she loves to play it whenever she gets the chance. Yesterday, she was playing with a pair of Dax's shorts that were laying around and she put them over her face and I asked, "Where's Macy?" She took the shorts off her face and I yelled "There she is!" I didn't think she got the point of the game until she put the shorts back over her face and I asked again, "Where's Macy?" and she pulled the shorts off and I yelled "There she is!" She gets a kick out of playing with whatever she can get her hands on whether it's a pair of daddy's shorts or one of the throw blankets. It's amazing how smart she is! I can't wait to see what game she learns next!

My Little Monster!

Macyn has learned a new sound to add to her noise repertoire. First it was the scream. The constant "Aaah, Aaah" that she would do every now and then when she wanted attention or when she wanted to voice her opinion about something. Then there were the raspberries she would blow for any reason. Just whenever she felt like it. And now, she has her growl. It starts out low and in her throat and then she lets out a little "Grrrrr." I have no idea where she got this noise from but it's funny nonetheless. I wonder what other noises she can come up with! Here are a few pictures at 7 months. Enjoy!

My Little Health Nut!

Lately, Macyn has been doing really well with her solid foods. We recently moved from rice cereal to oatmeal and she is eating it up. I was reading my baby food resource "Super Baby Food" which by the way I LOVE and they recommended introducing tofu to the 7 month old baby. Dax an I were eating Kimchi Jae Yook Bokkum with tofu and we decided to give her a little taste and she LOVED it! I took a bigger piece, mashed it up and added it to the oatmeal and with every spoonful offered she was getting so excited and started kicking her feet! Hmmmm...she loves the tofu! I am so excited and although Dax and I agreed to introduce different foods slowly since her little solid food strike, I can't wait to start something else!

Ready to Go!!!

Macyn is really starting to show signs that she is ready for a new way to get around other than rolling on the floor. She has started pushing up on her arms a lot more. Yesterday, I was reading books to her before bedtime and she was laying in her crib. She pushed up on her arms and then pushed up and stuck her pelvis up in the air. She was so close to being on all fours but then she tuckered out and fell back onto her belly! I just know one day I am going to look down and she is going to be crawling around!! I can't believe how big she is getting, it is truly amazing! I am always in awe when I look at her and how fast she is developing right before my eyes. I am so thankful for her and Dax, my little family!!

Here she is pushing up on her arms. Oh boy, any day now!!

This what I call her Gangsta Lean. Instead of sitting up, she does this. She lays on her side and leans on her elbow. It is the cutest thing! She usually does this and then takes a look around to see if there's anything interesting going on around her. If so, she will try to make her way to whatever peaks her interest, if not, she will lay back down on her back and just entertain herself by kicking her little chubby legs. Hopefully she will push up one day and sit up on her own. She can do the tri-pod position but she usually falls to the side after about a minute.

Last weekend, we took a family trip to Kiawah Island, SC. Dax had a conference to attend along with another fellow and we and the other fellow's family were able to tag along. We had fun shopping, walking on the beach, and hanging out with Christie and her beautiful little girl Savannah. I would have loved to take some pictures of Macyn on the beach but high tide made the sand so hard. We just took a walk and then headed back to the villa. Above is a picture of Macyn and Savannah hanging out and in deep conversation. They were so cute together, rolling around. Savannah knew how to roll from her back to her belly and by the end of the trip Macyn taught her how to roll back from her belly to her back.

Here is another picture of the two of them hanging out at the villa. It's so crazy, when they were born, Savannah was so small and Macyn was huge. Now, Savannah is really starting to catch up and she is even surpassing Macyn is the chubster category!
Here are the two girls sharing Macyn's computer. They looked so cute, the little nerds! Macyn did a good job of sharing her toys although whenever Savannah was playing with something, Macyn looked at it longingly as if she wished she would've grabbed that toy instead of the one that she had. Halmoni said that she must get that from me. She said that I was very into boundaries. I play with my toys and you play with yours kind of thing. I am still kind of like that to this day. I can share but I like to keep things separate if possible! :)
